February’s restaurant is Mike’s Diner a 50′ style diner at Myyrmäki station ground level. Last year they were chosen the best Hamburger place by the reader’s of Helsinki’s, Espoo’s and Vantaa’s local newspapers. If you’ve tasted the burgers you will know why.. and if you haven’t had the chance yet I urge you to go. They are to die for.
The last one I ate was the Grace burger with sallad. It was delicious and would have fed me for a week a week but had to eat it all as it was so good. Just look at the sallad, doesn’t it scream: “Eat me I’m fresh and delish?!!” I really enjoy going back to the place, not only for the food but also for the easy giong atmosphere and really nice staff.
Mike’s serves breakfast, lunch & dinner – burgers, sallads, sandwiches. Or you can go in just for a coffee and freshly baked cinammon roll. They welcome groups and kids too and you can also buy takeaway.
The interior is spot on 50’s style. Artist Salla Ikonen has painted Elvis and Marilyn Monroe on the walls and is finishing some more characters feautured in Mike’s (see photo below). Salla has also painted the beautiful murals on to the Myyrmäki station building. Right next to the station you’ll find the City artmuseum Artsi a great museum (Admission free) that concentrates on streetart, graffiti and performances. A must see when in Vantaa.
